【Abstract】
We extend the model of Cornand and Heinemann (2008, Economic Journal) and examine whether the authorities can implement partial announcement by selling public information when the agents’ action is strategic complements. We show that, in the game of information acquisition among agents, there exist multiple equilibria (full-announcement, partial announcement, and no-announcement) and that the partial announcement equilibrium is unstable. Hence, it is difficult to implement partial announcement policy unless the authorities can coordinate the agent’s belief about the others’ information acquisition.
