【概要】
We present a simple model where a person discounts utility from different sources at different rate. More precisely, we assume that the agent discounts utility from consumption at a different rate from disutility of supplying labor (or utility from leisure). We show that in our non-unitary discount rate model, there emerges the time inconsistency concerning decision making of agents. To solve our non-unitary discount rate model formally, we consider the agent as composed of a sequence of autonomous decision makers and then consider choices of each decision makers to be the outcome of an intrapersonal game. It is shown that the policy effects are quite different from the standard model.
