Portfolio choice in the presence of non-monetary background
risk: An interpersonal comparison

概要Overview

This paper considers optimal portfolio choices for investors who enjoy utility from both monetary (wealth level) and non-monetary arguments (for example, health status). The investors face two risks: a financial risk and a non-monetary background risk. A non-monetary background risk cannot be traded in markets and is permitted to dependent to a financial risk. In this setting, we characterize conditions on interpersonal comparison of risk aversion to guarantee monotonically change optimal portfolio choices.
